Eddie Hearn announced this morning that Anthony Crolla (31-6-3) will fight Ricky Burns (41-6-1) at the Manchester Arena on Saturday 7th October 2017.
The fight will take place at lightweight, Crolla’s natural weight class, with Burns coming down from 140lbs which he has been campaigning at recently.
Crolla, comes into the contest after losing his WBA lightweight title to Venezuelan Jorge Linares in September 2016, and then going on to lose the rematch in March, and Burns last time out was convincingly beaten by Julius Indongo for his WBA World Super-Lightweight title.
With both men coming into the fight off the back of losing their respective world titles, its for sure to be a classic, as both know a defeat could mean they have to call time of their boxing careers.
